The men’s swimming program has established itself as a perennial power, and the wrestling program had a breakthrough season to finish in the NCAA top five. NCSA analyzed over 1,000 college athletic programs across five division levels (D1-FBS, D1-FCS, D2, D3 and NAIA) to develop a list of the Top 100 College Athletic Programs for Student-Athletes.

Ventura College Pirate Athletics

At Ventura College, the Eye of Tradition is upon you. Since 1925, VC Pirate Athletics has a rich tradition that features 16 California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) state championships and 225 conference titles. The Pirates have won the Western State Conference Supremacy Award a record 21 times, including 17 awards since 1999. Additionally, VC has been home for numerous individual accolades including state champion, all-American, all-state and all-conference honors.

More importantly, VC Athletics excels in the classroom. Ventura has been recognized a state-best 39 CCCAA State Scholar Team awards since the program's inception in 1997-98. VC has had at least one team recognized for academic excellence for 20 consecutive years! Additionally, many programs and student athletes are recognized on a state and national level for academic excellence.

Ventura College offers a comprehensive athletics program including 10 women's and nine men's teams. VC has been the spring board for countless student athletes to move on to four-year colleges and universities in all levels of competition across the country.

We are located one hour from metropolitan Los Angeles on the Pacific Ocean. Over 12,500 students attend Ventura College each semester and approximately 400 are full-time student-athletes. The college provides a comprehensive selection of academic programs with vocational, remedial, transfer, and certificate classes from agriculture to water science. We offer nine men's and ten women's intercollegiate sports.
